This course examines the basis of negotiations and how it is used in purchasing. Also the underlying knowledge needed to be effective in negotiations and preparing for negotiations. In addition the tactics used by experienced successful negotiators and attributes of the good negotiator to ensure the benefits of negotiations are fully realised.

Purchasing Context This module examines a wide range of purchasing across several industrial sectors. It looks at the differing ways purchasing operates in business environments and contrasts them. In addition several aspects of specialist purchasing roles are shown eg Capital Buyer. |

Level 4 Developing Contacts in Purchasing & supply The module looks at the forming of legally binding commercial contracts and the legal framework that supports them. Also the terms associated with commercial contracts and the legal issues incorporated into contracts using these terms and conditions. Other areas involve international trade and the use of new technology.

Level 4 Measuring Purchasing Performance The module examines the reasons why measurement is a necessary part of purchasing and the benefits of better performing suppliers. Also the methods and techniques for measuring performance across several sectors and the benefits of deploying these tactics to achieve a better performing supply chain.

This module deals with the relationships in the purchasing and supplies arena. In supplies and purchasing there are many relationships spread over a wide network of people. This module examines those relationships and the interactivity and the dependencies that exist throughout the supply chain. |
